The Challenge: Indy Fair Donuts, a fictional company case study, experienced rapid expansion across four U.S. regions but faced declining sales at certain locations alongside rising employee turnover. I received a raw dataset and was tasked with developing a comprehensive analytics strategy to identify root causes and provide actionable solutions.
My Approach: Using RStudio, I cleaned and prepared the dataset, focusing on stores with complete data records. Then I performed exploratory analysis on key performance indicators including monthly sales by location, annualized turnover rates, training hours, manager tenure, and employee engagement and satisfaction scores.
My initial exploratory analysis showed that sites with more hours of training seemed to have higher sales and lower turnover rates. Second, manager tenure appeared to have a positive impact on average sales. Namely, the sites with higher average manager tenure had higher monthly sales than the sites with lower average manager tenure. Lastly, average engagement and satisfaction also showed a relationship with both sales and annualized turnover. Based on this I developed hypotheses which I tested with multiple linear regressions to check for correlation coefficients and statistical significance.
Impact: I delivered a comprehensive presentation to the fictional CEO covering my analytics methodology, statistical findings, data visualizations, key insights, and strategic recommendations. I received high marks for effective use of multimedia tools, excellent presentation pace, clear statistical analyses and visualizations, and demonstrated knowledge of the subject matter.
